The high school that sends the most students to NYU is in Jericho, New York

The high school that sends the most students to NYU is in Jericho, New York — from the high schools' own published lists

The angle

  1. The school that sends the most graduates to New York University is Jericho Senior High School in Jericho, New York, with 34 students in the Class of 2026 — first of 251 schools on our NYU board.
  2. Syosset Senior High School, also in New York, is first of 230 schools on our Cornell board with 25 students in the Class of 2025.
  3. Read past the top line and the state campuses show up fast: Syosset's Class of 2025 opens with Stony Brook University at 35 and Binghamton University at 32, ahead of Cornell at 25.

When a parent asks me where a high school "sends" its kids, they mean one thing. Does the diploma open a famous door? And most of us assume the biggest pipeline into a famous city university must start somewhere famous too.

It starts in Jericho, New York.

A matriculation list is where a school says its graduates enrolled. Jericho Senior High School publishes one. For the Class of 2026, it names New York University 34 times. That is the highest count on our NYU board, which ranks 251 schools by the counts they print themselves. Jericho is a public high school in Jericho, New York.

Now look at another New York school. On our Cornell board, Syosset Senior High School is first of 230 schools with 25 students from the Class of 2025. Jericho is second with 24.

Two New York schools. First and second.

Here is the part I did not expect. Read past the first line, and the state campuses show up fast. Syosset's Class of 2025 opens with Stony Brook University at 35 and Binghamton University at 32. Cornell University comes next at 25. Then New York University and Pennsylvania State University, at 21 each.

Jericho's list leads with New York University at 34 and Cornell University at 24. Then come Stony Brook University at 21, Hofstra University at 17 and Binghamton University at 14. Jericho's own list spells two of those names out: "Stony Brook University, State University of New York" and "Binghamton University, State University of New York."

At Syosset, the two state campuses hold the biggest numbers on the page. At Jericho, a state campus sits third. No national ranking shows you that.

One famous name tells you very little about where a class actually went.

So do two things with that. Stop judging a school by the single name at the top of its list. One name tells you a little; the whole list tells you a lot. Then read your own school's list out loud and ask whether those first five colleges are the five you had in mind. At both of these schools, a state campus sits higher than the famous-name story would have you guess.

Jericho's list comes from its 2026-2027 HIGH SCHOOL PROFILE. Syosset's comes from its College Planning Workshop 2025. Each school publishes its own, we copy the counts as printed, and we rank each list for the graduating class the school states.

Start with your own school's page on Reach. Then look at the NYU board and see where it lands.
