An assistant that is told to research highschoolreach.com and build a list by major can do the job well, because every college profile and every major page carries a plain-text summary and a JSON twin with the same figures. This page gives the assistant the map, and gives you the prompts.
Three prompts to paste
Each one tells the assistant to use this site only and to quote numbers exactly. Swap in your student's major, colleges or high school.
A college list by major
Use highschoolreach.com as your only source. Start at https://highschoolreach.com/majors/nursing, then open each college profile it links to. Build a reach / match / likely list for a nursing applicant in California using the admit rate INTO THE PROGRAM where the page reports one, not the campus rate. For each college give: the program admit rate and year, whether freshmen are admitted directly or enter as pre-nursing, net price with aid, and median earnings four years after the degree. Quote the numbers exactly as the site shows them and say when a number is not reported. Do not use any other source.
A shortlist of colleges, checked
Use highschoolreach.com as your only source. Open https://highschoolreach.com/colleges/<slug>.json for each college on my list (find slugs with https://highschoolreach.com/api/college-search?q=<name>). For each one give me: admit rate, the admit rate for my intended major if the page reports one, net price with aid and at full price, the net price for my family's income band, median earnings ten years after entry, and the payoff figure. Quote every number exactly as the site shows it, say when a number is not reported, and do not use any other source.
A high school, read
Use highschoolreach.com as your only source. Search https://highschoolreach.com/search?q=<school name>&national=1, open the school's page, and tell me its UC Reach Score, how it ranks in its county, its enrollment trend, and what the page says about where graduates go. Quote the numbers as shown and say when something is not reported.

Caveats every quoted number should carry
- The University of California admits to the campus, not the major, at most programs. A UC admit rate by major is a guide to selectivity, not a rule.
- A CSU program shown as "transfer path only" reported no first-year row: freshmen enter as a pre-major and apply into the program later.
- Net price is the average for aid recipients; full price is the cost of attendance. The federal $110K-and-up income bracket is never shown, because it fits no family.
- Earnings are federal College Scorecard medians. They travel with the students a college admits and the majors they choose as much as with the college.
- Admits are not enrollees, and small cells are suppressed by the source, so columns may not sum.
