UC San Diego's top feeder school is in Los Angeles County
I expected UC San Diego's feeder list to be a San Diego list.
It is not.
The University of California publishes admits by high school, so this is countable rather than felt. The school that sent the most students to UC San Diego this year is Granada Hills Charter, in Los Angeles County, with 96 admits out of a senior class of 1,154.
Behind it: Eleanor Roosevelt in Eastvale, then Berkeley High, then La Quinta High, then Canyon Crest Academy. Canyon Crest is the first San Diego County school on the board, at number five.
Count the counties and the pattern is hard to miss. Orange County puts seven schools on this list. Los Angeles County six. Alameda and Contra Costa six between them. San Diego County three.
A family in San Marcos and a family in Pleasanton are looking at the same campus with the same odds. Proximity is not an advantage here, whatever the drive time suggests.
Raw count rewards big schools, so we ran admits per 100 seniors alongside it. That column belongs to Valley Christian in San Jose — the one private school on the board — with 76 admits out of a class of 415.
The honest caveat, same as every board in this series: these are admits, not enrollees.
The rest of the per-campus boards are at highschoolreach.com/rankings.
