The 10 high schools that send the most students to Rice — from the high schools' own published lists
The angle
  1. Debakey H S for Health Prof in Houston sends 23 students per class year to Rice University, first of 128 schools whose published lists name Rice University, for the Class of 2025.
  2. St. John's School in Houston is second, at 9.6 students per class year over the past five (2022-2026) graduating classes.
  3. Eight of the top 10 schools are in Texas, the state where Rice sits.

Debakey H S for Health Prof is a public school in Houston, Texas. Its matriculation list names Rice University 23 times. A matriculation list is the list a school publishes saying where its graduates enrolled. Debakey printed that count of 23 for one class year, the Class of 2025. So it comes to 23 students per class year. Per class year means the count a school printed, divided by the class years its list covers. That places Debakey first of 128 schools whose published lists name Rice University.

Eight of these 10 schools are in Texas, the state where Rice sits. The other two are The Harker School in San Jose, California, and Newark Academy in Livingston, New Jersey. Second place, St. John's School, is in Houston as well. Its list prints 48 students across five class years. Third and fourth are LASA H S and Westwood H S, both at 5.0 students per class year from a single printed class. The Hockaday School in Dallas closes the top 10, at 2.3 students per class year across the years its list labels 2024 – 2026. Each school in the table is counted from the list that school itself published. The count is left exactly as printed. The class years are left in the school's own words.

A school that is not on this list did not publish a numbered matriculation list we could read. That is all absence means here. It is never a statement about that school's graduates. Enrolled lists and acceptances lists are never mixed here. An enrolled list says where graduates went. An acceptances list says where they were admitted. The two are ranked apart.

The full board carries the top 25 schools plus the separate acceptances section: the Rice University feeder-schools board. The college page is Rice University on Reach.

Boards as of October 2, 2026. Schools publish new lists every fall, so the live board is the current ranking.
