What it measures: for each San Joaquin County high school, how many admissions its graduating class earned to the six most selective UC campuses (Berkeley, UCLA, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Irvine, Davis), per 100 seniors. Higher score = the class graduated with more UC options on the table. It comes straight from the University of California's own school-by-school admissions counts.

How to read one row: Middle College High's 109 means its seniors earned 109 selective-UC admissions for every 100 students in the class. For scale, the median California high school scores about 18; the median San Joaquin County school scores 13.

The story in one sentence: San Joaquin holds the only school above 100 outside California's coastal counties — a tuition-free middle college in Stockton — and Stockton schools take nine of the county's top twenty.

One honest caution: the Reach Score is not an admit rate. A student admitted to three UC campuses counts three times — it measures the breadth of options a class earned, which is why an exceptional school can score above 100. The full definition is below the table.

1. The only inland school above 100 is here. Just thirteen California high schools score above 100, and twelve of them sit in Los Angeles, Santa Clara, Orange or Alameda county. The thirteenth is Stockton's Middle College High, at 109 from 76 seniors, converting 38% of its applications.
2. Stockton takes nine of the top twenty. Middle College (109), Stockton Early College Academy (64), Aspire Benjamin Holt (40), Saint Mary's (37), Health Careers Academy (37) and Aspire Langston Hughes (29) all place — a city more often written about for what its schools lack.
3. Mountain House is the strongest school at scale. It posts 62 from 580 seniors and files 1,519 UC applications, by far the county's largest load, converting 24%.
4. Nine of the top ten are public. Saint Mary's (37) is the only private school to place, and it sits fifth.
5. Below the top tier, the county tracks the inland pattern. The median San Joaquin school scores 13 against about 18 statewide, while conversion rates run high — Bear Creek and Lodi both at 39%, Sanger-style selectivity rather than Bay Area volume.
